Yaquina View Elementary School
Originally built in 1961, Yaquina View Elementary School has long served as a foundational part of the Newport community. When it came time to upgrade the school’s infrastructure and expand its capabilities, O’Brien was proud to partner with ZCS Engineering and Architecture to lead the transformation. Our team delivered essential seismic upgrades to the existing school, significantly improving safety in the event of an earthquake. These enhancements were thoughtfully designed to ensure that the building meets today’s structural standards while preserving its role as a trusted space for students and educators.
In tandem with the safety improvements, we constructed a 6,000 square-foot gymnasium—designed not just for student athletics, but as a multi-use facility that serves both the school and the surrounding community. This new space supports physical education programs, after-school activities, and neighborhood events, reinforcing the school’s place as a hub for connection and growth. This project reflects O’Brien’s continued commitment to creating safe, functional, and community-centered spaces across the Oregon Coast. We take pride in building with purpose—enhancing educational environments while honoring the communities they support.
