From seismic upgrades to new windows and exterior siding, since 2012, O’Brien has been the contractor of choice for Garibaldi Fire and Rescue Operations’ capital improvements at Division Station 31 Headquarters.

This two-story, 14,400-square-foot building is occupied primarily for staging emergency vehicles. Given a long list of structural seismic deficiencies uncovered in engineering analysis, our coast team shored up seismic systems and added an external shearwall at the apparatus bay wall line to protect the building from excessive story drift and improve lateral force resistivity. Additional blocking, strapping and bracing was installed in specific areas to collect forces into the top of the shearwalls and restrain the top of masonry walls against out-of-plane forces.

In subsequent years O’Brien complete additional renovations to the Station at the client’s request.
