The dream of building the Franz Finley Welcome Center at CYO/Camp Howard was made possible by a woman named Elsie Franz Finley who provided the leading gift.
The Franz Finley Welcome Center is in the heart of camp and close to the action. The center contains a health center, year-round offices and meeting space for CYO/Camp Howard staff, public restrooms, and a welcome area to greet all visitors, including rental group members. The building also houses an updated camp store that can be open year-round.
Construction of the new center required the removal of the old shower house and the camp store. The new restroom facilities in these units will include showers, eliminating the need for the 65 year-old shower house.

Elsie blessed Camp Howard and many thousands of youth with her generosity. Her impact will be felt by generations to come. Gone from this earth, Elsie Franz Finley will not be forgotten.
While Elsie passed away in 2018, she will be forever remembered as a pioneering businesswoman, loving wife and sister, friend, community leader and philanthropist.
