Barlow’s Public House gets its name from Sam Barlow, a pioneer known for forging a path from Hood River, Oregon area to Vancouver, Washington. The owners of Barlow’s, Alicia & Brian Rummer, also journeyed to Washington from America’s Southwest to be near family and follow their dreams.

To celebrate these journeys and their southern roots, Barlow’s incorporates forward-thinking beer, homestyle food and an impressive whiskey selection. The Vancouver Waterfront became the perfect place to make roots and build the flagship restaurant of Barlow’s Brewery.

This project took advantage of the great waterfront views with a large deck patio overlooking the Grant Street Pier and the Columbia River. The interior offers warm wood tones, large windows, interesting fixtures. The build out involved a full commercial kitchen, a 250 seat, full service public house, and a private dining room. The most unique feature of this project was the new self-serve Tap Wall – the first of its kind in the Portland Metro Area. The tap-wall provides beer with little to no waste. In fact, the self-pouring patrons don’t need to worry about an empty keg blasting CO2 or the typical end-of-the-keg spray. The tap-wall technology knows when the keg is empty and cuts off the pour before the beer is completely gone. The technology also ensures the beer is poured to reduce foam and measure out a precise pour, reducing waste.
