Vista Hills Winery

Project description

From vines to trees: Dayton, Oregon is home to Vista Hills Winery, which overlooks the scenic Willamette Valley. The unique Tree House Tasting Room is the centerpiece of this 6,000-square-foot facility, which features a barrel storage on the lower level. Several trees had to be removed from the property for the construction of the winery; O’Brien repurposed those trees to become part of the stately and unique main winery building.

PUTTING THE VISTA IN VISTA HILLS

Floor-to-ceiling windows on the main floor open visitors to the panoramic Dundee hills of Yamhill County. A visit to Vista Hills is a breathtaking experience.

THE PROS OF CONCRETE

The concrete lower level is where Vista Hills’ barrels are stored, taking advantage of the insulating nature of concrete to maintain the cool temperatures needed for wine storage.

THE TAKEAWAY

It’s vital to take advantage of the scenery around you and create something stunning to match. O’Brien’s project with Vista Hills Winery is a perfect blend of natural beauty and architectural beauty.
