A 5 story mixed-use building including 3 retail spaces on ground floor, 15 units on 2-4 levels with a roof deck. Project is located on a triangular lot at the intersection of North Interstate Ave and North Maryland Ave in Portland, OR. Each floor has 4 types of unit and the green roof system is applied to this project.

Open Concept Architecture

A project that honors the history of John Day, Oregon, but also a project that shines light on the future. We are currently designing 8 modular cabins that will become a top destination in the Pacific Northwest. The cabins will appear like beacons in the light and will offer a symbolic presence when you drive into John Day. The cabins will provide a new energy to the redeveloping town.

The cabins will be sustainably made from timber and will have insulated floors, walls, and roofs to create high-performance buildings that are also comfortable from the local elements. Each cabin will offer a skylight to stargaze, access to a bird habitat-focused and native plant courtyard, and a sense of privacy in an urban setting. The buildings will sit on eco-friendly helical piers which provide the benefit of minimal-to-no site damage. Screw-pile systems do not require soil cutting, which helps keep the project site clean and intact.

A $35 million luxurious design+build development project which involved multiple 2-story multifamily complexs with 128 units. We worked with our client to find the project location as well as complete the full design and build of the project.

This was an impactful project as it helped our company expand our services to Eastern Washington.


Each unit has an open floorplan with lots of natural light, patio decks, large walk in closets, washer and dryer slots, and high ceilings. The project is wrapping up, but many units have been completed and electronically staged.

Leaders like Ethos Development and OpenDoor Coliving are paving the way for market-driven, accessibly priced housing throughout the PNW.

From a Metro article by Rebecca Small, “Greater Portland is short an entire city’s worth of affordable homes for renters: about 48,000 homes. We all do better when everyone has the opportunity to live in a safe, decent home that they can afford. The benefits of that stability for individuals and families ripple outwards to our entire community, affecting everything from our schools, economy and morning commute.”

Society 62 offers community-style living where 29 bedrooms share common space over three communities offering affordable housing to the Portland area.

The project is also built to the Energy Trust of Oregon ‘Best’ standard and features a heat-pump hot water system, which is uncommon in multi-family projects, allowing the building to operate entirely on electric power.

We are proud to partner with leaders like Ethos and OpenDoor that are taking action to improve our future and our communities.

While the private rooms are compact, many offer vaulted ceilings which provide an open feel. The private rooms are a part of a self-contained community household equipped with a chef’s kitchen and an open plan living space.
