Employee Spotlight: Parker McCarthy

I’ve been working with Parker for a little over two years now. He is good choice for a spotlight because he is very consistent, dedicated, and reliable, which are great qualities to have in his role. Simply put, he is very good at what he does.

Parker is process oriented, and not afraid to get into the weeds of how things are done. He’s always looking for the most efficient methods and more effective ways to get things done, and he’s never afraid to speak his mind when he feels that a process isn’t as efficient as it could be.

I see Parker continuing to develop into his role and as a leader, and running some projects. He will be a dependable mainstay of the O’Brien Coast Team for a long time.

Q&A with Parker

I enjoy being challenged and making things better than they were. Also, my daughters ride horses and it’s not cheap.

That things are always changing, and there’s always a new challenge to tackle. I also enjoy that I’m not micromanaged and that I work with super motivated & super smart people.

I retired from active duty service in the U.S. Coast Guard after 22 years of service in 2020.

I’m based out of the Cannon Beach Office. I was first stationed in Clatsop County in 2003 and ultimately decided the area was home when I retired from active duty.

I got to watch my oldest daughter graduate from High School.
