Q&A with Alex

I grew up loving to do things with my hands and building things. I went to Oregon State University for Mechanical Engineering and construction was a natural place to fall with that degree. I also enjoy having something physical to show for my job.

I enjoy the fast-paced environment and the creative decision making that is required for this industry, as well as being able to see the projects I’m managing go from paper to real life.

I was the Project Engineer for the Camp Howard Welcome Center in 2020-2021 and was promoted to Project Manager mid-way through the project. The owner was so pleased with the build that they awarded O’Brien the project uncontested as long as I was the Project Manager for the new St. Michaels Youth Center, which is currently in construction.

I work in the Portland office. Honestly the job brought me here, I wasn’t sure where I was going to end up after college. I was born and raised in Bend so luckily I’m not too far away from the rest of my family.

The 649 in Aloha and Hops and Drops in Tanasbourne.

Everyone has different personalities and learning styles so being able to adapt to those to help them be the best they can be.

I completed my DBIA Professional certification.
