Astoria Public Library has officially reopened to the community.
At long last, the community of Astoria now has full access to a wonderful and completely modernized public library. The building’s interior remodel has provided an exciting and welcoming space, with artwork and natural lighting that provides the same sense of calm and wonder that can be found in the pages of the books it houses. An important architectural landmark built by local Astorian architect Ebba Wicks Brown in 1967, has retained much of it’s original exterior character, honoring the design with a clean new finish.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 25th brought members of the community across all walks of life together to celebrate the reopening of this beloved public space. From members of the public to city officials both past and present who have been involved in the project throughout its lifespan, the excitement was palpable for everyone involved.
O’Brien assisted in the hosting of the event, providing a bookmark-making station and a photo booth area. As a local Oregon Coast company, all of us at O’Brien are honored to have been a part of the mission to bring this much-needed third space to our community in Astoria.
